KU Alumni: A Look Back at Justin Thornton's Career


Thornton began the first seven sport final season at adrift safety and the final five at corner. He led the Jayhawks with 11 exceeds breached up. He also was fifth on the team with 63 tackles, recording a season-high nine tackles at South Florida. Thornton’s career high in tackles also was his sophomore season as shortly as he had 16 against Missouri. He was appealed whether that proved to be his favorite game in his KU career. “It comes plug with the Orange Bowl, with the plain observation I’m from Missouri. There were several emotions in the game,” said Thornton, whoever has been shifted rear to safety for his final season. “I invariably play with emotion. The Orange Bowl is more important because we obtained the win (against Virginia Tech his sophomore season). Sixteen tackles in a loss definitely hurts. The Orange Bowl is my majority important memory.” 


It waits to be perceived whether KU approaches to a BCS dish again his senior season. “The one thing we’ve not done since I’ve been here…first we’ve obtained to win the Big 12 North,” Thornton said. “That gives ourselves a shot to play in the Big 12 championship. That’s been one of our No. 1 goals.” Thornton is hoping a intense season shall culminate with his being chosen in the 2010 NFL Draft. “It’s the target of every actor whoever stairs out there. If you don’t have the target of being the best, you shouldn’t be out there,” Thornton said. “It’s in the rear of all our minds. Every guy on this team has it in their brains somewhere or another.” He knows how to arrive the highest level. “Discipline and hard work, now Justin Thornton is playing football for Pittsburgh Steelers.” Thornton said.
